Match report
26/09/2009 - M3 vs WINCHMORE 4
Due to the loss of a number of players, S & S fielded a young side mostly made up of last year's 4th team. So this game was approached with some trepidation & uncertainty. As it was the worries were unnecessary as S & S took the game to W & E & the only disappointment was that they only scored one goal as a combination of good keeping, hanging onto the ball too much and a missed flick from Trevor Bridger, combined to limit chances. The only goal falling to Steve "Brooksie" Brookes who followed up Max King's saved shot.
At half time senior pros Bridger and Pete Seward entreated the side to pass the ball about rather than try to take on the savvy defenders. What a turnaround S & S did as asked & started passing the ball around, in particular the midfield of Seward, Andy Cusack, Luke Bridger & Brooksie completely dominated. Firstly Seward scored from a well drilled short corner, King swept in from a Bridger through ball, Brookes then provided for Bridger & King collected his second after good work from Bridger junior & Brookes again.
At the other end keeper Adam Symons had little to do & the defence of Joe O'Sullivan Paul Symons, George Tipper & Stephen Williams were more busy turning defence into attack than defending. S & S collected their sixth when Trevor Bridger neatly deflected a Seward shot in. Bridger collected his hatrick five minutes from the end with the best goal of the game, following up a saved shot with a sharp lift over the keeper.
