Match report

07/11/2009 - M3 vs BERKHAMSTED 3

Despite a 0-0 this game certainly was not boring, both sides could claim that they could have & should have won it. S & S had the best of the early exchanges, but could not convert pressure into real chances. Luke Bridger came closest with a well struck short corner which the rookie Berko keeper saved well.

With a squad of 15 S & S struggled to get some continuity with players running on & off on a regular basis & this lead to Berko ma inroads, but both defences were dominant in the first half.

In the Second half S & S struggled to put together their passing & the forwards Max King & Trevor Bridger became increasingly isolated & easily S & S & despite some scares & a couple of good saves from Adam Symons, the defence coped well. As the half progressed S & S started to break the shackles with the defence well lead by Man of the match Stephen Williams & Paul Symons, pushing forward with George Tipper & Andy Coxall linking well with Bridger junior and Tim Cakebread on the wings and Andy Cusack the key lynchpin in midfield.

First Ricky Monaghan had his shot cleared off the line, then Bridger Senior & Cusack both had chances, a goal looked inevitable & when S & S had a series of short corners, one would not normally have bet against corner specialist Pete Seward converting. Despite his best efforts though the Berko keeper came into his own with a string of great saves to deny S & S from taking all the points.

In the end 0-0 was probably a fair result A mention for Rob Plummer who acquitted himself well in his first appearance for S & S.
